I decided to make quick and dirty comparison of some parameters of selected OS. I measured values once, because for me it was the most interesting to get only quantity. I have selected number of bytes written/read from HDD and number of bytes sent/received over network. Why ? People are using more and more often SSD/flash memories, which have specified number of write cycles and people are using more and more often network connections with data limits. Here are results, I have used mainly values observed by VirtualBox functions: English » Read more | 12066 reads |
DOC, DOCX, PDF, EPUB, ODT, CHM,.... There were many formats of documents created over years, ISTQB provides own glossary in PDF format. I decided to convert it some time ago to form of Android application: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mwiacek.istqb.glossary. You can search topics, jump to related topics, etc. Small, fast, effective. English » Read more | 11038 reads |

Post PC era -> is it really market regulated ?
In various places we can read, that PC (Personal Computers like notebooks and desktops) are less and less popular. What can be reason for it ? Standard X86 platform is of course much better and faster, but... many users complain about generally worse quality, worse screens and various "revolutionary" solutions (which allow to save few $ for manufacturers, but make a lot of problems for users). » Read more | 14061 reads |

Many years ago Windows systems were more popular. Microsoft created CHM then. It was compressed archive/file including HTML files (with CSS, Java Script, etc.) with additional TOC, indexes and similar things. I have used it for various purposes and even today it's possible to open and read many of these files. Example for it can be "The HTML Reference Library 4.0" (my conversion of original release prepared by Stephen Le Hunte). GSM » Read more | 17811 reads |

Comment about Geimini - quo vadis Android... (2011, version 2.0)
The most popular desktop operating system is still Windows XP (it's visible in many reports and logs). Many people were complaining over years about problems with its' security (there were also written from time to time some very fast spreading viruses or worms using some bugs inside) or privacy (Microsoft was suspected and criticized for collecting some user data or statistics). gammu.org - some period is closed
Like promised I have closed gammu.org in current form. Started 1 April 2005 under gammu.net address, in April 2006 was moved into current domain (gammu.org). First in the form of static pages, later created using MediaWiki. I was publishing there some non GSM texts too, tried to make some phone database with info about firmware changes, versions, pictures.... Big shame, but don't worry... Two interesting articles from last time: Microsoft: 30 Million Windows Phone 7 devices will be sold by the end of 2011 and Nokia top model N900 sales below 100,000: Gartner My answer: first is system, which will probably not have many features known from competitors. Second is system, which was not supported correctly by own manufacturer. How could you think, that they could be successful ? » Read more | 11559 reads |
